Following the release of the 2020 Federal Budget this week, we were extremely pleased to see the Morrison Government’s investment of $5.7 billion towards mental health services for 2020-2021. This historic amendment shows an ongoing commitment to mental health as well as economic recovery.
What this means for our clients:
Double Medicare sessions: the currently available 10 Medicare-funded clinical psychology sessions per calendar year will double to 20 sessions from this Friday. These rebates are valid for face to face, Telehealth (video) or phone sessions. As before, you can access this service with a mental health care plan from your GP.
This is welcome news for our clients who can continue subsided support into the new year and beyond.
Did you know the Australian public has used 7 million mental health sessions since March 2020. A great indication of the recognition and importance of mental health in our community.
